So. About 2 months ago, my former wedding photographer threatened to charge us another 100 dollars if we didn’t have half down by September 19th. Understandable, I suppose, for a very in demand photographer with tons of people wanting to book her, standing in a 5 mile long line, right? Well, that’s not this girl.
Her photography is, at best, mediocre. We were only getting her because I knew her, sort of, from elementary school, and she gave us a good price (sort of.)
So, September 19th comes around, and my web design check doesn’t clear, and I don’t have half to put down on this mediocre photographer.
She writes on my facebook wall (gasp!) “Message me. We need to talk.”
Messages come in my inbox, “You have until midnight.” “Where is your desosit!”
I write her back on the 20th, explaining things. I tell her that I am unsure when we can pay her, as I didn’t know when my check would clear.
She is unforgiving, stating that there is a $100 penalty for our delay. I tell her I understand, and if she needs to fill our spot, she can.
In the meantime, I start looking at other photographers, twice as good as her, without the late fee. Plus, they’re much more experienced, and doesn’t need a final payment until when Michael and I are much more suited to pay it.
I write to her, stating that I booked a new photographer that was more in our price range, and I apologized for causing such confusion. She, whom I thought I was still on okay terms with, asks me who I got instead, just out of curiosity. I tell her, thinking she’s just admiring another photographer’s work.
Minutes later, she writes to me and states that she contacted the photographer to inquire about prices, stating, “I DONT KNOW WHY YOU WOULD DO THIS TO ME, WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE THIS? SHE CHARGES 1000 DOLLARS MORE THAN US! STOP LYING ABOUT THE PRICE!”
I was taken aback by how unprofessional this photographer was being, so I merely stated that she had given us a deal, and it was incredibly unprofessional to contact her.
She responded with, “Wow.”
A month later, she deletes me from her facebook friends, blocks me, and I just now realized that her photographer’s assistant deleted me as well, and has been gossiping to my family about the situation.
I am so blown away.
